Have you ever watched The Twilight Zone? Not just the parodies on like Futurama and stuff. It’s literally almost all social commentary on the 60s. Not everything was random awkward carpet monkey men scaring Shatner on the wing of a plane, or a man at the end of the world who’s glasses break. There were a lot of very political and social episodes. My favorite episodes tend to just look at humanity and how the monsters are within them, just like in The Shelter. It shows just how quickly men turn to animals when their lives are on the line, and how unsettlingly quick they try to forget what they’ve done.
The title is an article link that explains what’s going on. Essentially, Apple Music scans your computer for basically ANY sound file, either 1. matches it to a sound file on their cloud or 2. converts it to .mp3 and uploads it to the cloud. It then deletes all the files.
This means that:
1. If you have any in-progress tracks you’re working on in .wav? Too bad! They’re now in .mp3 and not on your computer anymore.
2. Do you have a rare live recording of a band? Too bad, because Apple has a lot of false positives and will often only match based on title and artist alone, so your personal live recording made for your personal use at a garage concert before they were famous is now replaced by the regular CD release that you’re not so hot on.
3. Do you have spotty wi-fi? Do you often work with the internet turned off, so you can be free of distraction? Well, welcome to life without music, because you can’t use the service without wi-fi.
Seriously DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE unless you want your ENTIRE personal music collection completely wiped in favor of an Apple controlled cloud service.

Basically, Nakata doesn’t want Perfume to have any creative control of their music probably because he doesn’t respect them as creative entities. Nakata has been historically selective about who he views as creatively “equal” to himself — even then, he consistently challenges those individuals, as in the case where he submitted tracklists for MEG’s albums in ways she didn’t want them to be, tried to force the issue of changing one stupid line of her song STAR because he didn’t like how her version sounded, etc. (Lo and behold, MEG eventually stopped working with him.)
I’ve been of the mind for quite a while that he works best by himself — that way he isn’t frustrating anyone else or getting in the way of other peoples’ approaches to their own music careers. I hate to word it this way, but going off everything he’s shown himself to be in interviews etc, Nakata is essentially an overgrown child who happens to be good at making music.
And yeah, I’m sure he’s a fun person to go to dinner with or have a beer with or whatever else, but his approach to his work and collaborations with people is severely flawed. It impacts Perfume pretty strongly.
